We are working with a new client who are a fit out contractor based in Portsmouth who are looking for a Joinery Estimator to join their business. They get involved in all sectors and manufacture and Install their own products.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse architectural drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare labour, equipment, and materials/subcontractor estimates all work.
  • Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on work using knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.
  • Act as the Company’s representative at pre contract and post contract meetings with clients and main contractors.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Maintain files (electronic data) of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers.
  • Request quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. Conduct a thorough evaluation of incoming scopes of work and conduct a cost analysis on quotations.
  • Consider and analyse risk factors at all stages of the project.
  • Conduct onsite surveys of pre-existing conditions when applicable.
  • Perform post-bid analysis and participate in bid review meetings with company Directors.
  • Initiate and chair new project hand-over meetings.
  • Investigate value engineering options and report.
  • Carry out live project cost control and monitoring.
  • Negotiate, award, and administer contracts with subcontractors for the successful completion of   projects in a timely and cost efficient manner.
  • Maintain the live estimates folder, relocating priced jobs to the submitted estimates folder.
  • Populate the submitted estimates excel file.
  • Prior to accepting an order and putting it through for uplist check product or contractor availability and lead times.
  • Populate the uplisted estimates excel file.
  • Maintain and update the causeway estimating system updating the core library monthly, given the opportunity.
  • When pricing a project speak to the client to get ALL the relevant information, as well as creating the opportunity to gain their trust.
  • Follow up on priced projects within a week of submission.
  • When re-costing a project that has been priced previously speak to suppliers and subcontractors  to get fresh costs and lead in periods in all cases.
