At GVR Building Services, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi Skilled Carpenter to join a well-established maintenance team in Chelmsford on a permanent basis.

The successful Multi Skilled Carpenter will be responsible for delivering responsive repairs, void property works, planned maintenance, compliance works, and associated repairs across occupied and vacant residential properties.
We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Multi Skilled Carpenter who takes pride in delivering a right-first-time service while maintaining high standards of workmanship and professionalism.
As a Multi Skilled Carpenter, your responsibilities will include:
• Carrying out responsive repairs and maintenance works
• Completing void property refurbishments and planned renewals
• Undertaking carpentry works to a high standard across residential properties
• Diagnosing maintenance issues and resolving faults efficiently
• Working within occupied and vacant homes
• Delivering excellent customer service at all times
• Ensuring all works comply with health and safety regulations
• Supporting additional trade activities where required
To be considered for this Multi Skilled Carpenter position, you should have:
• Significant experience in all aspects of carpentry and joinery
• Experience working within building maintenance, social housing, or property repairs
• Knowledge of fire door inspection and installation
• Experience working in occupied residential properties
• Ability to carry out secondary trade skills including:
- Plastering
- Tiling
- Plumbing
- Glazing
- Groundworks
- Fencing
• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices
• Basic IT skills and experience using handheld PDA devices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible approach to workload and working hours
Qualifications Required:
• City & Guilds Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery, NVQ Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery, or equivalent qualification
• GCSE-level literacy and numeracy (or equivalent)
• Full UK Manual Driving Licence
• Access to a vehicle for work purposes
• Basic DBS Check
