GVR Building Services are currently recruiting for 4 Grounds Maintenance \/ DMC Support Operatives to join a long-term maintenance contract based in Chelmsford, with work across Essex.<\/p>\n
This is an excellent opportunity for reliable and motivated individuals to join a growing team delivering essential environmental and property maintenance services across housing and communal areas.<\/p>\n
No previous DMC experience is required, as full training will be provided including mould washing certification. A background in grounds maintenance is preferred but not essential. We are looking for candidates with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.<\/p>\n
As a Grounds Maintenance \/ DMC Support Operative, you will provide flexible support across both Grounds Maintenance and DMC services, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation across all sites. You will be responsible for maintaining communal areas, outdoor spaces, and residential environments while supporting wider property maintenance and customer-focused service delivery.<\/p>\n
Your responsibilities will include:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and weed control
\n\u2022 Litter picking and general grounds maintenance
\n\u2022 Planting and basic horticultural work
\n\u2022 Mould washing and damp treatment works (training provided)
\n\u2022 Minor repairs and maintenance support tasks
\n\u2022 Basic inspections of fencing, gates, windows, and doors
\n\u2022 Supporting empty homes and planned maintenance works
\n\u2022 Operating tools, machinery, and company vehicles safely
\n\u2022 Ensuring all work meets health & safety standards
\n\u2022 Recording completed works via handheld devices (PDA systems)<\/p>\n
To be considered for this role, you must have:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Full UK manual driving licence (essential)
\n\u2022 Ability to commute daily to Chelmsford office (company vans provided for site use only)
\n\u2022 Good attitude and willingness to learn
\n\u2022 Basic literacy and numeracy (GCSE or equivalent)
\n\u2022 Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
\n\u2022 Strong teamwork and communication skills
\n\u2022 Basic DBS check required<\/p>\n
Desirable Experience:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Previous grounds maintenance or horticultural experience
\n\u2022 Use of horticultural machinery (mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters)
\n\u2022 PA1 \/ PA6 qualifications
\n\u2022 Experience working in occupied residential environments
\n\u2022 Knowledge of health & safety in maintenance environments<\/p>\n
