Junior/Assistant Quantity Surveyor Required in Essex
GVR Solutions are currently working alongside a very well-established main contractor who are looking to bring an Early-career Quantity Surveyor onto the team, with a salary of £26k-£40k available depending on the level of experience.
As a Colchester-based main contractor, they focus on new build and refurbishment projects within the education, commercial, healthcare and student accommodation sectors. They deliver projects across Essex and into Kent, with a strong pipeline of work across the region.
Responsibilities of the Junior/Assistant Quantity Surveyor:
- Assist in the commercial management of multiple construction projects.
- Support the preparation of cost plans, budgets, and tender submissions.
- Assist with procurement of subcontractors and material packages.
- Measure works and prepare valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs and assist in preparing cost reports.
- Review subcontractor applications and payments.
- Liaise with site teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Help identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and contract documentation.
- Support senior members of the commercial team with day-to-day project administration.
Requirements of the Junior/Assistant Quantity Surveyor:
- Full UK driving licence is a must.
- Experience within the commercial side of construction is advantageous.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline (or working towards one).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Eager to learn and develop within a specialist subcontracting environment.
